Series 3 of record group 72-111 consists of reports and correspondence of sewage and pollution, from the Michigan Stream Control Commission (and its successor, the Water Resources Commission) for the years 1925-1956. Contains case files assembled on the pollution and sewerage problems generated by the fluid discharges of various firms in the state, including those in the metal works, sugar works, canneries, chemical works, laundries, refineries, tanneries, and creameries and dairies industries.

The Michigan Stream Control Commission was created by the provisions on Public Act 245 of 1929. The Commission was specifically charged with the control of the pollution of lakes, rivers, streams, and all waters of the state, and the Great Lakes.
